    Suasana Belajar English For Biology II Kelas Unggulan Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Riau

    A descriptive study on learning atmosphere in the excellence Biology Teacher’s Education Program, The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau has been conducted in the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2012/2013. The objective was to find out the learning atmosphere in English for Biology II courses. As much as eighteen students have been defined as the total respondents by total sampling technique. Data of seven indicators learning atmosphere, namely: (1) cohesiveness, (2) lecture support, (3) involvement, (4) investigation, (5) task orientation, (6) cooperation, and (7) lecture equity obtained by questionnaire What Is Happening In this Class (WIHIC). The questionnaire was valid (r xy0,54> critical values 0,3) dan reliabel (r 110,96> critical values0,7). The questionnaires were directly ditributed to the respondents at the end of the semester. Supplements data were taken by video recording during the learning process. All data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that learning atmosphere English for Biology II were considered very conducive from aspects of cohesiveness of relationship between students, task orientation, cooperation and lecture equity. While the lecture support, involvement, and student investigations were considered is enough conducive. In clonclusion, the learning atmosphere of English for Biology II by using Research-based teaching were considered was enough conducive. However, the learning atmosphere of English for Biology II is still needs to be improved in order to become very conducive, especially with regard to indicators of lecturer support, student involvement and investigation.

    Profil Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa Pada Mata Kuliah Struktur Hewan Sebelum dan Sesudah Penerapan Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK)

    This research has been conducted to determine the profile of Student Learning Outcomes in Animal Structure subjects before and after implementation of KBK, on the campus of Bina Widya, Biology Faculty of Teacher Education Program University of Riau in June and July 2013. This research is a descriptive study and the method used is to compare the value of UTS, UAS and Final Value of animal structure between the two curriculum, before the KBK curriculum and after the KBK in 2008 using t-test technique. The population in this research that students force Biology Education 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 are using the curriculum before KBK and the students force Biology Education 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 which uses KBK curriculum. The results showed that there are differences in the results of the three parameters measured, there are significant differences in measurement values of UTS between curriculum before KBK and after KBK, while the measurement value of UAS and Final value results are not significant differences.

    Potensi Bakteriosin Dari Bakteri Asam Laktat Yogurt Sebagai Antibakteri Di Uji Terhadap Shigella dysenteriae DAN Salmonella thypi

    Research has been done to determine the potential of bacteriocins in yogurt that found on the market by tested against Shigella dysenteriae and Salmonella thypi. This study was held in January and March 2013 with test samples of yogurt and yogurt supernatant against test bacteria. The test method was using the well diffusion test on MHA. Bacteria grown in media every 24 hours, perforated with tubes durham as well in order. Each of the wells fill with yogurt and yogurt supernatant. Medium incubated on 37 0 C for 24 hours, the antibacterial activity was measured by inhibition zone diameter formed. The results showed the yogurt sample test, that the bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria on commercial yogurt can not inhibit Shigella dysenteriae and Salmonella thypi. In supernatant yogurt the test, bacteriocin production by lactic acid bacteria from yogurt commercial that has been centrifuged unable to inhibit Shigella dysenteriae and Salmonella thypi. The growing of lactic acid bacteria was disturb and makes the bacteriocins results on the sample and supernatan can not inhibit the bacterial test. Antibacterial potency of the yogurt sample and the supernatant can not be determined because no inhibition zone formed.

    Pemahaman Guru Biologi Terhadap Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP) Di SMA Negeri Kabupaten Kuansing Tahun 2013

    The research has been to know understanding of the biology teachers to the unit level education curriculum (KTSP) at SMAN in Kuansing regency 2013 year. This typenof research is a descriptive study. The sample was biology teachers SMAN in Kuansing regencies, with indicators the concept of unit level education curriculum (KTSP), development program, implementation of learning, and evaluation of learning. Data collection technique using written tests total of 30 question. From the research results obtained percentage understanding teachers can be seen from the indicators concept KTSP is 60,2% (quite category). The development program is 67,7% (quite category). The implementation of learning is 75,6% (good category). And the evaluation of learning is 65,8% (quite category). From the research results can be concluded that understanding of the biology teachers to the unit level education curriculum (KTSP) at SMAN in Kuansing regencies 2013 year is 67,3% (quite category)

    Penggunaan Media LCD Proyektor Untuk Meningkatkan Minat Dan Hasil Belajar IPA (biologi) Siswa Kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Kampar kiriTahun Ajaran 2012/2013

    This research is a classroom action research that aims to increase interest and biology learning outcomes with the use of media in the classroom LCD projectors VIII A SMPN 1 Kampar kiri Academic Year 2012/2013. This study was conducted in February-March 2013. The research subjects were students of SMPN 1 Kampar kiri VIII A . Number of students is 30 students (12 boys and 18 girls). Parameters of this study was student interest with 6 indicators and outcomes of student learning consists of absorption and mastery learning students. Average student interest before media use LCD projectors is 1.77 (medium) rose after media use LCD projectors in the first cycle with an average 2.69 (high), and the second cycle with an average of 2.93 (high). Absorption of students in cycle 1 was 72.33% (average) increased to 81.16% (excellent) in the second cycle. Mastery learning students in cycle 1 was 80% (completed) increased in the second cycle to 93.33% (complete). The average activity of students in cycle 1 was 66.66% (or less) increased in the second cycle to 81.68% (excellent). The average activity of teachers in cycle 1 was 96% (excellent) increased in the second cycle to 100% (excellent). From these results it can be concluded that the use of LCD Projectors media can increase interest and learning outcomes VIII A junior biology grade 1 Kampar kiri Academic Year 2012/2013.

    Persepsi Mahasiswa Terhadap Pengelolaan Laboratorium Pada Kelompok Mata Kuliah Botani Di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Riau

    This study aims to determine the perceptions of students taking courses on the management of field botany biology lab in biology education courses FKIP University of Riau. descriptive research, purposive sampling techniques, the students of 2008 and 2009 are already taking botany courses totaling 42 people. parameters used are the students' perceptions of the 6 indicators such as planning, organization, administration, security, maintenance, and supervision. used to determine students' perceptions enclosed questionnaire and the data were analyzed descriptively. the results showed that students' perceptions of management education biology lab, the planning indicators mean of 2.92 (good), structuring indicators mean 2.45 (enough), administrative indicators mean 2.55 (enough), the security indicator mean 1.92 (less), the average treatment indicator 2.85 (good), and the control indicators mean 2.49 (enough). It can be concluded that the perceptions of students who take courses in the field of botany to the management of biological laboratories in biology education courses FKIP Riau University obtained a mean of 2.53 with enough categories.

    Persepsi Mahasiswa Terhadap Pengelolaan Laboratorium Alam di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Riau

    This study aims to determine perceptions Students Against Management Studies Program Natural Laboratory in Biology Education Riau University held in April and May 2013 in the Educational Studies Program Biology, University of Riau. Type of research is a descriptive study population was all Biology Students Education Program Teacher Training and Education Faculty of the University of Riau with sampling technique was purposive sampling. Samples were students Force 2009 Force 2008 and Student Life Education Program who have completed all courses in the Natural Laboratory practicum. The research instrument was a questionnaire closed and open questionnaire consisting of 6 natural laboratory management indicators, namely: Planning, Structuring, Administration, Security, Maintenance and Monitoring. The results showed that the perception of Students Against Natural Laboratory Management in biology education courses namely 2.84 Riau University (both categories). Overall Perceptions of Students Against Management Studies Program Natural Laboratory in Biology Education Riau University has done well and needs further management on administration and maintenance on lab activities in biology experimental station.

    Korelasi Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa Pada Mata Kuliah Struktur Hewan Dengan Perkembangan Hewan Di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UR 2012/2013

    The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of Student Learning Outcomes between Animal Structure and an Animal Development subject conducted in Biology Education in Guidance and Counseling the University of Riau in March-June 2013. This research is a descriptive correlational study. The sample was 50 students from biology class of 2010 by using purposive sampling technique. Parameter data of the study are student learning outcomes in animal structure and animal development subject consisting of the average score of task, the average score of quiz, Mid-term score (UTS), the score of the final-term (UAS). The instruments of data collection such as secondary data are using data documentation of student learning outcomes include average score of task, quiz average value, the mid-term score and the final-term score calculated by the formula of product moment correlation and prim ary data obtained through closed questionnaire as supporting data. The results showed that the difference of correlation index, it could be seen at the 5% significance level of the correlation coefficient on the average score of the task is weak (0.22), th e coefficient of the correlation on the average score of quiz was classified as very weak (0.05), the coefficient of correlation on the mid-term score (UTS) has a sufficient correlation (0.52), the coefficient of correlation on the final-term score (UAS) has a sufficient correlation (0.55) and the coefficient of correlation on the total value has a strong correlation (0,64). It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation with the total value of the animal structure and animal development subject (0,64).

    Karakteristik Komposisi Dan Stratifikasi Vegetasi Strata Pohon Komunitas Riparian Di Kawasan Hutan Wisata Rimbo Tujuh Danau Kabupaten Kampar Provinsi Riau

    Research has been conducted to determine the composition and stratification characteristics Strata Trees Community Riparian Vegetation in the area of Lake Forest Tourism Rimbo Seven Kampar district in Riau Province in June 2012. The method used is the belt transect method with the size of 10 × 60 m plots were distributed on a regular basis. Riparian vegetation was found on all three stations for 14 species consisting of 10 tribes. The dominant vegetation composition at three stations located on tribal Euporbiaceae and Anacardiaceae. The results showed that for the three sites it was Stratification (standing vertically) in 3 study sites are in stratum B, with the highest vegetation Gluta renghas which has a height of 30 m. The results of measurements of environmental parameters in the forest region Rimbo seven lakes tour shows the highest temperature at the location of the new lake that is equal 31.66 0 C.

    The research has been to increase motivation and result of students learning biology class VIIB SMP N 9 Penyengat with application of learning strategies The Power Of Two (TPOT). This research is classroom action research conducted in March to April 2013. Research subjects were students in grade VIIB SMP N 9 Penyengat, amounting with to 20 student (11 male and 9 female). The parameters in this research were study motivation (indicators: interest, relevancy, expectation and result), the results of students learning which consists of absorption, complete learn, and teacher activity. The results of this research mean motivation score before application of learning strategy TPOT 3.18% (medium category) and after application of learning strategy TPOT 4.09% (high category) and the percentage increase 28.92%. The percentage increase of students motivation cycle I is 19.91% and the percentage increase of students motivation cycle II is 18.56%. Students absorption experience of improvement, at cycle I with mean 68.50% (quite category), and cycle II with mean 83.25% (good category). Complete learn students experience of improvement percentage at cycle I is 75% and cycle II 100%. The average activity of the teacher cycle I is 88.45% (excellent category) and cycle II is 100% (excellent category). Thus the application of learning strategies TPOT can improve motivation and result of students learning biology class VIIB SMP N 9 Penyengat, Tanjungpinang 2012/2013 school year.

    Pemanfaatan Alat Dan Bahan Pada Pelaksanaan Praktikum Mata Kuliah Keahlian Dan Keterampilan (MKK) Di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi

    This research has purpose to know the use of tools and materials at practical work in the course of skill and competent at Biologi Education program, this research was conducted from march to june 2013, Parameters measured atthis research wereavailability of tools and material for the lab, the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and materials for the lab, and maintenance of equipment and materials for the lab. The data retrieval using documentation of data collection techniques, observation techniques and closed questionnaire. Result indicate the availability of tools and materials in practical implementation of the course skill and competent (MKK) reached the optimal criteria with average 72,84%, the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and materials for the lab on the implementation of the course skill and competent (MKK) achieve optimal criteria with average 76,39%, while the maintenance of equipment and materials on the implementations of the course skill and competent (MKK) reached the optimal criteria with average 62,19%. The concluded of this research are the use of tools and materials at practical work in the course of skill and competent (MKK) at Biologi Education program reach the optimal criteria with average 70,47 %

    Efektivitas Model Siklus Belajar (Learning Cycle) Terhadap Penguasaan Konsep Dan Kemampuan Dasar Bekerja Ilmiah Pada Pembelajaran Ipa Kelas VII SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru

    This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the learning cycle model to the mastery of concepts and basic skills of scientific work on biology learning class VII SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru. This study was conducted in March-June 2013. This is a type of quasi-experimental study with a sample of class VII 1 as control class and class VII 3 as the experimental class. The parameters used in the study are the mastery of concepts and students' basic skill of scientific work. To determine students' mastery of concepts given in the form of pre test and post test while to learn the basic skills of students of scientific work carried out by observations. Analysis was done by descriptive analysis and inferential data by t-test. The results showed significant differences between the experimental class concept mastery and control class (thit 3,73 > ttable 1,99). There are significant differences in the basic skills of scientific work between the experimental class and the control class (t hit 3.37 > ttable 1.99 ). Based on the researched, learning cycle model is effective against the mastery of concepts and basic skills of scientific work class VII student of SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru.

    There was applied the Class Action Research (CAR) in order to increase student’s 21 st century skill on students of grade X.2 at SMA Negeri 14 Pekanbaru of Educational Year 2012/2013 by applying integrated character education building through contextual teaching and learning. Subject of the research, which was conducted on April to May 2013, were students of grade X.2 SMA Negeri 14 Pekanbaru, which consist of 40 students (13 boys and 23 girls). 21 st century skill parameter contains 5 elements, those are; digital era literacy, inventif thought, effective communication, high productivity, and religious. Data colection in this research are; observation form, grade product form, 21 st century skill test form. Result of the research discover that on average students 21 st century skill at first cycle at 63.49 % (very low), increased on second cycle to 72.69 % (low), on productivity grade at first cycle showed 73 % (enough) and contribute an increase on the second cycle at 80.5 % (enough), on 21 st century skill test at first cycle was 73.67 % (low) and become 78 % (enough) on the second cycle. It can be concluded based on the research, that integrated character educatoin building through contextual teaching and learning approach able to upgrade the students 21 st century skill on Biology learning at students of grade X.2 SMA Negeri 14 Pekanbaru Educational Year 2012/2013.

    There was applied the Class Action Research (CAR) in order to increase student’s 21 st century skill, by applying integrated character education building through contextual teaching and learning on students of grade XI IPA 1 at SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru of Educational Year 2012/2013. Subject of the research, which was conducted on February to June 2013, were students of grade XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru, which consist of 38 students (11 boys and 27 girls). 21 st century skill parameter contains 5 elements, those are; digital era literacy, inventif thought, effective communication, high productivity, and religious. Data colection in this research are; observation form, grade product form, 21 st century skill test form. Result of the research discover that on average students 21 st century skill at first cycle at 62,36 % (very low), increased on second cycle to 76,84 % (enough), on productivity grade at first cycle showed 75,79 % (enough) and contribute an increase on the second cycle at 83,68 % (enough), on 21 st century skill test at first cycle was 71,4 % (low) and become 76,67 % (enough) on the second cycle. It can be concluded based on the research, that integrated character educatoin building through contextual teaching and learning approach able to upgrade the students 21 st century skill on Biology study at students of grade XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 12 Pekanbaru Educational Year 2012/2013.

    Integrasi Pendidikan Karakter Melalui Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) Dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Abad Ke-21 (21st Century Skill) Pada Pembelajaran Biologi Kelas XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013

    Action research has been carried out aimed at improving the skills of student’s 21 st century skills with character education through the integration model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in class XI Science 2 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2012/2013. The research was conducted in February-June 2013, with a research subject 2 class of XI Science SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. Total amount of students is 43 which is consisting of 17 students and 26 female students. The parameter in this study is the 21 st century skills that consists of 5 elements which are digital age literacy, inventive thinking, effective communication, high productivity, and religious. The results showed an average of 21 st century skills through observation in the first cycle of 69.56% (category less) increased to 76.87% (category enough) in the second cycle. Element average 21 st century skills, high productivity in the first cycle was 54.42% (category very less) and increased to 82.79% (category enough) in the second cycle. Average 21 st century skills through tests 21 st century skills has increased 55.81% from the first cycle (the category of very less) to 71.47% (less category) in the second cycle. Based on the results of this study concluded that the integration of character education through the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) can improve student’s skills of the 21 st century in biology learning in class XI Science 2 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2012/2013.

    Penggunaan Media Animasi dalam Model Pembelajaran Langsung untuk Meningkatkan Minat Dan Hasil Belajar Biologi Siswa Kelas VIIIb SMP Negeri 1 Benai Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013

    This research is a classroom action research that aims to improve the biological activity and learning outcomes with the implementation of cooperative learning strategies on Quick On The Draw class VII.1 SMPN1 Ujungbatu Academic Year 2012/2013. The experiment was conducted in March to April 2013. The subjects were students of class VII 1 SMP 1 Ujungbatu who were 30 students, consisting of 7 male students and 23 female students. Parameters measured were student activity that consists of 4 indicators and student learning outcomes consisting absorption, mastery learning of individual students as well as teachers' activities. The average activity of students in the first cycle is 85.10% (very good) increased in the second cycle with an average of 88.75% (very good). Absorption of students in the first cycle is 85.75% (very good), increased to 88.91% (very good). Mastery learning students in the first cycle is 100% (complete) at the second cycle is 100% (complete). Activities of teachers in the first cycle with the average of 92.80% (very good) in the second cycle increased 100% (very good). From the research it can be concluded that the application of learning models with Quick On The Draw strategy can increase the activity and student learning outcomes VII.1 class SMPN1 Ujungbatu Academic Year 2012/2013

    Penggunaan Media Animasi dalam Model Pembelajaran Langsung untuk Meningkatkan Minat Dan Hasil Belajar Biologi Siswa Kelas VIIIb SMP Negeri 1 Benai Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013

    This research is aimed at increasing interest in studying biology and outcomes with the use of animation media in direct instructional model in class VIIIB Benai SMP 1 Academic Year 2012/2013. The research was conducted in February 2013. The research subjects were students of SMP 1 Benai VIIIB. Number of students is 22students (11 men and 11 women). Parameters of this study was student interest with 6 indicators and outcomes of student learning consists of absorption and mastery learning students. Average student interest before the use of media in the animated direct instructional model is 1.90 (medium) increased after the use of animation media in direct instructional model in the first cycle with an average 3,34 (high), and then second cycle with an average 3,49 (high). Students on cycle 1 absorption was 69.63 (average) increased to 79.86 (excellent). Mastery learning of students in cycle 1 was 59.09% (pass) increased in the second cycle to 81.81% (pass). The average activity of students in cycle 1 was 69.31% (average) increased in the second cycle to 80.87% (excellent). The average activity of teachers in cycle 1 was 85% (good) increased in the second cycle to 100% (very good). From these results it can be concluded that the use of animated media in direct instructional model can increase interest and learning outcomes of students in the class VIIIB biology junior 1 Benai Academic Year 2012/2013.

    Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Make A Match Untuk Meningkatkan Aktivitas Dan Hasil Belajar Biologi Siswa Kelas X.2 SMA Negeri 10 Pekanbaru Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013

    This study aimed to Improve Learning Outcomes Biological Activity And X.2 Grade Students of SMA Negeri 10 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2012/2013 through the implementation of cooperative learning model make a match. This research is a classroom action research was conducted in October-November 2012. The subjects were students of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru X.2 class numbering 30 people consisting of 12 students and 18 female students. The research instrument consists of learning tools and data collection instruments. Research procedure consists of the planning, implementation of action, observation and reflection. Parameter study consisted of student activities, teacher activities and learning outcomes. The results show the average activity in the first cycle is 81.91% (average) increase in cycle II with an average activity of students is 88.12% (excellent). Average absorption of the first cycle students are 66.81% (average) and increased in the second cycle with an average 82.16% (excellent).Mastery learning students in the first cycle is 63.33% (complete) and 36.67% (not finished), and the second cycle increased to 100% (complete). I cycle a group award for four groups earn great rewards and a group of super honored. In the second cycle all super group awarded. Activities of teachers in the first cycle with the average of 92.85% (excellent) on the second cycle increased to 100% (very good).
