Item KOMPOSISI DIATOM EPIPELIK DAN EPIFITIK DI PERAIRAN SUNGAI MESJID KOTA DUMAI PROVINSI RIAU(2012-10-16) Simanihuruk, TolopanThe research was conducted in June 2012 in water the Sungai Mesjid of Dumai City Riau Province. This research aims to describe how the composition of epipelic diatom the sediments and epiphytic on mangrove communities in the water Sungai Mesjid of Dumai City Riau Province and environmental factors that affect it. The data obtained by observation, measurement and sampling in the field, followed by the identification of diatom samples at Integrated Laboratory of Marine Sciences, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. Total species of epipelic diatom that were consisted of 53 species and 16 species epiphytic diatom.Epipelik diatom species most frequently encountered is Navicula elegans, Navicula membranacea and Nitzschia frigida. While epiphytic diatom species only Rhabdonema arculatum which can be found at all stations. The species is a species that has a high tolerance to various substrates. From the value of diversity index (H '), dominance (D), equability (e) and the measurement of water quality parameters shows that the condition of the waters in the Sungai Mesjid of as whole is still in balance, there is no competition for place nor food and water quality middle level of contamination.Item CONCENTRATION OF HEAVY METAL PLUMBUM (Pb) AND CUPPRUM (Cu) IN SEAWATER AND SEDIMENT OF BATUBARA COASTAL WATERS NORTH SUMATRA PROVINCE(2012-10-16) Gultom, JefriThis research was conducted on August 2011. Samples of seawater and sediment were collected from Batubara coastal waters, North Sumatra and analyzed for their Pb and Cu concentrations using AAS Perkin Elmer 3110 in Marine Chemistry Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Riau University, Pekanbaru. The results showed that Pb and Cu concentrations in seawater and sediment were higher in station closed to PT Inalum Port (0,82 mg/L and 0,05 mg/L; 13,10 μg/g and 11,24 μg/g) for Pb and Cu in seawater and sediment, respectively than that in other stations. The lowest heavy metal concentration was found in station nearby mangrove area (0,42 mg/L and 0,02; 11,53 μg/g and 6,49 μg/g) for pb and cu in seawater and sediment respectively. Concentrations of Pb and Cu in sediment of Batubara coastal waters were still lower than ERL and ERM values which can be concluded that Batubara coastal waters does not have negative impact to organisms living in the surrounding area.Item Distribution of Barnacle (Balanus spp) on The Pole of Harbour PT. Persero Indonesia Sibolga North Sumatera(2012-11-22) Lumban Gaol, DonaldA Study on the distribution and abundance of biofouling, Barnacles (Balanus spp) were conducted in May 2012. The objective of the study was to find out and analyze the distribution of the barnacle in relation to currents, depth of water. It revealed that current velocity affected the abundance in that greater current velocity brought about lower abundance. It addition, the abundance of Barnacles (Balanus spp) were higher on the subsurface compared to that on the above surface of water. This differences were due to food supply and duration of filtering activity of Barnacles (Balanus spp).Item SEDIMENT CHARATERISTICS IN TELUK KABUNG WATERS PADANG CITY WEST SUMATERA KARAKTERISTIK SEDIMEN DI PERAIRAN TELUK KABUNG KOTA PADANG SUMATERA BARAT(2012-12-03) Reza Hayuda PutraThis study was carried out in March 2012 in the waters of Teluk Kabung of Padang City, in the Province of West Sumatra. It aimed to see the characteristic of sediment in the coastal waters of Teluk Kabung. Field survey method was applied where ten sites were chosen for sampling purposes. The sediment samples were sorted in the lab and its distribution was analyzed by cluster analysis. The result showed that the particle size of the sediments was dominated by sands that ranging from fine to medium sand. Three groups of cluster with different number of sites were detected. The first cluster consisted of four stations that characterized by medium power of flow of the sediment transport, unstable actions of wave and current speed, with sand type sediment. Similar figure showed by the second cluster even though both the wave and the current actions frequently changed, however, the changes were not significant. The method used was survey method, data was consisting of primary and secondary data. Interviewing sampling method was used purposively, particularly for tourist sample were used as accidental sampling. The result showed that Cingkuak Island has a big potential in marine tourism and posseses a big chance to develop in marine ecotourism sector. It was showed by the suitability value of marine ecotourism development. The value was resulted through tourism supporter criteria, total scores of WTA and WTP, scores of economic potential, and SWOT analysis.Item ATTACHEMENT OF BIOFOULING (BALLANUS SPP) ON THE BODY OF WOODEN BOAT, FIBER AND METAL IN SIBOLGA HARBOUR NORTH SUMATERA(2013-01-07) Naibaho, JefriantoA study on the distribution of biofouling organism (Barnacle Spp) attached on body wall of boat of different material were conducted in sibolga harbour,North sumatera It showed that aboundance of barnacles in wooden,fiber,and metal were 637, 107 and 34 individu/m2, respectively. Statistically the aboundence were significantly different which related to physical properties (nough,smoth ) of the wall of boat.Item ANALISIS BAKTERI PEMBENTUK HISTAMIN PADA IKAN TONGKOL DI PERAIRAN PASIE NAN TIGO KOTO TANGAH PADANG SUMATERA BARAT(2013-01-07) Kurniawan, RomiTuna is one food that is consumed and if left at room temperature, then a process of deterioration to rot. Fish that has undergone a process of decay, when consumed can cause poisoning. Poisoning is caused by contamination with pathogenic bacteria decarboxylated amino acid histidine by the enzyme histidine decarboxylase produce histamine. The purpose of this study was to analyze the growth of histamine-forming bacteria in tuna that can cause disruption to public health. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a non-factorial completely randomized design by using 6 samples of tuna and 3 repetitions. Analysis of total histamine forming bacteria that has been done, where the selection results showed that a total of 6 samples of bacteria tuna ranged between 4.4x104 - 1.83x106 cells / gram. The total yield of bacteria that form is still below the threshold (less than or equal to 106). The results of this research can be a guide for further research using niven medium was modified in order to detect histamine-forming bacteria betterItem Bioecology and Natural Habitat Characteristics of Sea Turtles in Pariaman Coast(2013-01-07) Leni, YuyamA study on bioecology and habitat characteristics of sea turtle nesting ground was carrid out from May to June 2012 . The present study aimed at finding out the bioecology and physical characteristics of nesting ground of sea turtles. Apparently, 7 individu craeked turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) were encounterred. Average of 69 cm in length, and carapac width of 19 cm, depth of step of 5 cm, and length of track of 12 m. Intutidal were flat with slope of 0.93-7,11o. Vegetation found were coconut (Cocos nucifera), pine tree (Casuarina equisetifolia), ketaping, ceriop sp. The sand colour were brown sand, water temperature of 29-30o C and salinity range 33-34 ‰, the water pH measured was 8.Item RELATION OF DENSITY MANGROVE WITH ABUNDANCE OF MANGROVE SNAIL (Telebralia sulcata) IN TANJUNG MEDANG VILLAGE NORTH RUPAT SUBSDISTRICT BENGKALIS REGENCY PROVINCE OF RIAU(2013-01-07) Hasiolan Simanungkalit, GunturThis research was done on July 2011 in Tanjung Medang Village, North Rupat Subsdistrict, Bengkalis Regency, Province of Riau. The method which used was survey’s method. This research aims to know the species and density of mangrove, and also to know the abundance of mangrove snail (Telebralia sulcata). The benefit of this research was to know how large the reletions between density of mangrove with abundance of mangrove snail. From the result of regression test that gotten the value of R= 0,954(regression coefficient), it means that the reletions between density of mangrove with abundance of mangrove snail which done showed us the result that the better condition of mangrove, so that many more totality occurrence of mangrove snail in mangrove forest, also on the contrary.Item Distribution of Starfish (Asteroidea sp) on the Island waters Poncan Gadang Sibolga North Sumatra(2013-01-07) AlexanderA study on the distribution of starfish (asteroidea sp) were carried on sibolga in October 2012. There sampling site were established with different activities of harbor site, pole, and coral reef ecosystem. apparausly three spesies of starfish were inhabid the poncan island namely 1) Asterias Forbesi, 2) Echinarachnius Parma, 3) Ophiuridea Bervispinum those spesies belongs to two genus (Asterias, Ophiuroidea) and of one family (Asteriidae). It revealed that higest density fauna arround coral reef ecosystem (station III) which are 57 ind/m2, other station were are 43 ind/m2 and 46 ind/m2. It calculated that the Morisita index was >1, suggested the distribution pattern starfish was aggregaded.Item HUBUNGAN KANDUNGAN MINYAK DENGAN KELIMPAHAN DIATOM (Bacillariophyta) DI PERAIRAN SEKITAR TELUK KABUNG KOTA PADANG SUMATERA BARAT(2013-01-07) Eka Larasati, ChandrikaThe research was conducted on April 2012 around Teluk Kabung waters of West Sumatera. This research was aimed to determine the oil content, the abundance of diatoms and seeing relationships between oil content with abundance of diatoms (Bacillariophyta) in the waters around Teluk Kabung. Based on the results, the highest average value of oil content was obtained at station 4 (0.539 ppm) and the lowest was at station 3 (0.206 ppm). Diatoms were found in the surface waters of Teluk Kabung were 14 species. Chaetoceros castacanei was the species has the highest number of abundances (16 464 cells/l). Number of diatom species abundances were 86.436 cells/l. The relationship between oil content with diatom abundances has strong negative correlation, wich mean increasingly of oil content will decline the abundance of diatoms of Teluk Kabun.Item KONDISI TERUMBU KARANG DI PERAIRAN PULAU SIKUAI KOTA PADANG PROVINSI SUMATERA BARAT(2013-01-07) Haiyi, AbdulThe research of coral reef was conducted in Jun to July 2012 in Sikuai Island Waters of Padang, West Sumatera Province. The research was aimed to analyze the condition of coral reef and to evaluate coral reef base on diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index. The study used survey method by applying Line Intercept Transect (LIT) which consisting of three main station. Each station was divided into two sub depths, I,e. 3 and 7 m respectively. The type of coral reef in Sikuai Island was fringing reef. Coral lifeform’s found in the area were Acropora Branching (ACB), Acropora Tabulate (ACT), Acropora Encrusting (ACE), Acropora Submassive (ACS), Soft Coral (SC), Coral Massive (CM). The condition of coral reef at the depth 3 m no good with percentage of coverage of 10,36%, whreas at the depth 7 m was in normal condition with percentage of coverage of 8,57%.Item POLA PERTUMBUHAN DAN INDEKS KEMATANGAN GONAD PADA IKAN LOMEK (Harpodon nehereus) DI PERAIRAN DUMAI PROVINSI RIAU(2013-01-07) Eka Putri, RahayuBombay Duck fish (Harpodon nehereus) is one of the endemic fish in Dumai coastal area. The fish locally named as ‘Lomek’. This fish has high economic value and may be preserved existence. To support this, initial data is needed in the form of biological aspects of fisheries, especially on the pattern of growth and Gonad Somatic Index (GSI).The sex composition consisted of 67% male and 33% female. The pattern of growth the males was negatively allometric with a value of b = 2.36, whereas the female was positively allometric with a value of b = 3.29. Pattern of overall growth was negatively allometric with value b = 2.58. Gonad Somatic Index (GSI) in male fish ranged between 0.13% -12.09%, while female fish ranged from 0.15% -11.69%.Item ANALISIS BAKTERI Clostridium perfringens PADA SEDIMEN DI PERAIRAN BENGKALIS PROVINSI RIAU(2013-01-07) Daulay, HarisThe research was conducted in April 2012 in water of Bengkalis, Riau Province. This research aims to analyze of Clostridium perfringens on sediments of water in The Bengkalis coastal, Riau Provinces. Sediments of water were collected from Bengkalis coastal and then analyzed bacteriologically in The Marine Microbiology Laboratory of Marine Center. The data obtained by observation, measurement and sampling in the field, followed by the identification C. perfringens. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The C. perfringens counts varied according to types of sediments and location sampling. The inoculation thecnique is surface plate method on TSC Agar. The species identification included morphological, observation, fisical and biochemical test. The distribution of C. perfringens is connected of with coastal oceanography condition. The counts ranged from 3,9 x 104 - 6,1 x 104 cell/grams in sediments of water. The highest C. perfringens counts was found on water of Damon, Rimba Sekampung and Kelapa Pati Villages.Item Analisis Kandungan Minyak Pada Air dan Sedimen di Perairan Sekitar Bungus Teluk Kabung Kota Padang Sumatera Barat(2013-01-07) Ariani, FitriA study on the oil content in water and sediment were carried out around Bungus Bay in April 2012. The purpose of the study was to provide baseline data on environmental quality of the Bungus Bay. It revealed that the highest oil content found in Pertamina point (0.5300 ppm), while the lowest found in residential area (0.3530 ppm), sediment oil of content was highest in residential region (2035.8632 ppm). According to standard quality value of sea water, oil content of water has not exceeded the threshold value (<5 ppm) and oil content of sediment has exceeded the threshold value (>100 ppm).Item UJI EFEKTIFITAS BAKTERI ASAM LAKTAT DALAM MENGATASI Vibrio alginolyticus PADA IKAN KERAPU MACAN (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus)(2013-01-07) Permata Lestari, ErinaLactic acid bacteria was developed as a replacement for antibiotics to overcome bacterial infection that often affects pathogens in grouper farming, such as infections caused by the bacterium V. alginolyticusThe aim of this research was to investigate the ability of mixed lactic acid bacteria with commercial feeding to inhibit the development of V. alginolyticus bacteria which infected the body of E fuscoguttatus observe by hematology parameter. The method used was completely random sampling, there are 4 treatments with three time repeated. The result of the research showed that the rate of hematocrit value were between 28%-41%. Leukocyte were (40.000-117.000 cell/ml), neutrophils were (4-24%), monocytes were (13-24%), lymphocytes (53-82%), and phagocytosis activity were (22-58%). Based on the results of this study concluded that the addition of Lactic Acid Bacteria can enhance non-specific immune response tiger grouper.Item PENGARUH MINYAK MENTAH TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN BIOMASSA ANAKAN MANGROVE Rhizophora apiculata DI KELURAHAN PANGKALAN SESAI KECAMATAN DUMAI BARAT KOTA DUMAI(2013-01-10) Lina, KamisThe research was conducted in April-July 2012 in the Pangkalan Sesai village, Dumai city using experimental methods (5 treatments with 3 replications). Research shows the highest concentration (1.0 ml / cm 2) causes a decrease in biomass day (0) 25.7 g to 4.5 g, 0.7 cm leaf width increase, the growth of the number of leaves 0, increase stem diameter 0.60 cm and increase stem height 2.6 cm, while the lowest concentration (1.0 ml / cm 2) caused a decrease in biomass at day (0) 24.4 g to 15 g, 0.22 cm leaf width increase, the growth of the number of leaf 2.4, added 0.114 cm stem diameter and plant height increment 4.4 cm. The higher the concentration of given oil, the higher the biomass reduction occurring and diminishing growth rate in the mangrove Rhizophora apiculata seedlingItem The Distribution of Coral Pocillopora damicornis in Sikuai Island of Padang City, West Sumatra(2013-01-14) Candra, AdekThis study was carried out in June 2012. It took place in the coastal waters of Sikuai Island in the West Sumatra Province. Survey method on coral study was used and nine stations with three sampling points each were chosen for data collection. These data were counted by using quadratic transect with 4 x 4 m2 in size. The results showed that P. demicornis are clustered about 52 m from the shoreline reaching 0.5 m depth at the station I. Similar feature of distribution was also seen at the station III, however, none was found at the station II. Coral coloniesof P.damicornisfound on the station I amounted to 59 colonies with an average diameter of 16.7, and the size range 1-23 cm, where as colonies on third station number 25with an average diameter of 10.65 and sizes range from1-25cm.Item STUDI KEBIASAAN MAKANAN IKAN LOMEK (Harpodon nehereus) YANG DIDARATKAN DI TEMPAT PELELANGAN IKAN (TPI) DUMAI PROVINSI RIAU(2013-01-14) Afrizal, RengkiResearch on study habits of fish lomek fish in Indonesia is not well developed, especially in Riau. At this time the lomek fish has been choosen as an icon of Dumai. This study aims to determine the main food consumed by lomek and also the relationship between the composition of the food. The research was conducted in June 2012, in the coastal waters of Dumai using survey methods. The study found type of food comprising of shrimps, small fish, Ceratium laluna, Chaetoceros sp, Scytonema sp, Chaetoceros subtilis, Spirulina janneri, Closterium dianae and Centritractus africanus. The main food of fish groups of 0-150 mm and 160-250 mm was shrimp and group above 250 mm was the fish at young stages.
