Abstract

The research of coral reef was conducted in Jun to July 2012 in Sikuai Island Waters of Padang, West Sumatera Province. The research was aimed to analyze the condition of coral reef and to evaluate coral reef base on diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index. The study used survey method by applying Line Intercept Transect (LIT) which consisting of three main station. Each station was divided into two sub depths, I,e. 3 and 7 m respectively. The type of coral reef in Sikuai Island was fringing reef. Coral lifeform’s found in the area were Acropora Branching (ACB), Acropora Tabulate (ACT), Acropora Encrusting (ACE), Acropora Submassive (ACS), Soft Coral (SC), Coral Massive (CM). The condition of coral reef at the depth 3 m no good with percentage of coverage of 10,36%, whreas at the depth 7 m was in normal condition with percentage of coverage of 8,57%.
