    ANALISIS KANDUNGAN LOGAM Pb, Cu DAN Zn PADA AIR LAUT DAN SEDIMEN DI PERAIRAN TELUK PANGKE KABUPATEN KARIMUN PROVINSI KEPULAUAN RIAU

    This research was conducted on April 2013. Sampel of sea water and sediment were taken fromPangke Bay waters Karimun Regency, Riau Archipelago. Analysis of heavy metal concentration was carried out in Marine Chemistry Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau by using an Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometer Perkin Elmer 3110. The results showed that highest consentration of Pb and Zn insea water was found in around PT. Saipem Indonesia waters (0,0623 mg/L and 0,4937 mg/L) and concentration of Cu was highest in PT. Pacific Granita port (0,0390 mg/L). Whilst the highest concentration of Pb was found in around PT. Saipem Indonesia waters (8,6333µg/g), Cu in anthropogenic activities area (2,5766 µg/g) and Zn in PT. Pacific Granita port (8,8500 µg/g).The lowest concentration of Pb, Cu and Zn was found in station nearby mangrove area and far from industrial activities (0,0487, 0,0146 and 0,0397 mg/L for sea water and 3,3500, 0,6183 and 5,8000 μg/g for sediment) for Pb,Cu and Zn respectively. Concentrations of Pb, Cu and Zn in sediment of Pangke Bay were still lower than ERL and ERM values which can be concluded that Pangke Bay waters does not have negative impact to organisms living in the surrounding area.

    STUDY ON THE SUSPENDED SOLIDS IN THE WEST COASTAL WATERS OF BENGKALIS

    This study was carried out in May 2012. It aimed to find out on the stage extent of suspended solid in the west coastal waters of Bengkalis, in Riau province. This study used survey method and van Dorn sampler to collect the water samples at 7 stations of the study area. The National Standard Method of Indonesia for suspended solid analysis was used to deal with the main goal of the study. The result showed that the average stage of suspended solid was different for all stations. The considerable one was found in the station 4 comparing to the other stations. It caused station 4 was located at the confluence of the tidal current patterns come from the Malacca Strait low tide that come with the current of the river around the west coastal water of Bengkalis.

    ASSOCIATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF CROWN OF THORNS (Acanthaster planci) ON THE REEF IN KASIAK ISLAND PARIAMAN MUNICIPALTY – WEST SUMATRA

    This research was done in June 2012 in Kasiak Island in West Sumatra Province. The research is aimed to analize the association of Crown of Thorns Acanthaster planci with the coral Foliose growthand the distribution os Crown of Thorns Acanthaster planci in the area of the research. The methods used in this reasearch is the survey methods. Transect was placed parralel with the coastal lineand placed on the square plot of (5x5 m) with five square plot in each station. The reasearch found that there are association between the two species of Acanthaster planci with the coral with Foliose growth in each of the research station, therefore, H0 received on the significant level of 0,05 (5%) (x(hitung) < x(tabel)), with the distribution pattern Acanthaster planci showing in groups, where MI > 1. On the station I with the depth 6, there were no Acanthaster planci found and the coral Foliose growth. This is influenced by the organic faktor for it’s need for nutrient as well as the environmental factors which are stabil and good which really support its growth.

    INVENTORY OF CORAL REEF ECOSYSTEMS POTENTIAL FOR MARINE ECOTOURISM DEVELOPMENT (SNORKELING AND DIVING) IN THE WATERS OF BERALAS PASIR ISLAND BINTAN REGENCY KEPULAUAN RIAU PROVINCE

    The research was conducted in May 2013 in the waters of Beralas Pasir Island, Bintan Regency, Kepulauan Riau Province. The purpose of the research was to understand the suitability of Beralas Pasir Island used for marine ecotourism for tourism activities as of snorkeling and diving tours based on coral reef ecosystem potential. The research method used was a survey method with purposive sampling technique sampling, observation station consists of a 3 point station. Based on observations, coral reef ecosystem on Beralas Pasir Island were in category of moderate, with an average percentage coverage about 46,69% of coral communities. In each station the dominance of reef types were Acropora Tabulate (ACT) and Coral Foliose (CF). The analysis for suitability for eco-tourism of snorkeling and diving showed that all stations were at moderate category (S2) in which the highest percentage was seen in station I.

    This research has aims to know Estuary fecundity zoom Rokan's River is sighted from nitrate concentration, phosphate, and profusion at diatom and relationship among concentrates nitrate, phosphate with profusion at diatom.the research was performed on 16th June 2012 at River Estuary waters Rokan, Sinaboy's district Rokan's regency Riau's province Downstream. These result points out that nitrate concentration on basic station sampling at 0,027 0,032 mg / L. Meanwhile phosphate concentration on each ranging station 0,875 – 0,916 mg / L. base on the research station is found 27 specieses at diatom, species at diatom that often emerges at each station is Skeletonema Costatum. This species gets character euryhaline andeurythermal. Concentration nitrate the River Estuary waters Rokan categorised lush reducing waters (oligotropik)meanwhile for phosphate concentration comprises (mesotropik). According to subjective research result nitrate concentration with profusion at diatom while blows over to be gotten can r =0,84 and while assemble to be can r=0,34. Meanwhile for relationship among phosphate concentration with profusion at diatom upon subsiding being gottencan r=0,58 and at the moment tide are gotten assesses canr=0,25 subjective matternitrate concentration with profusion at diatom upon subsiding categorised strong and at the moment rank tide rans down meanwhile for phosphate concentration with profusion at diatom upon subsiding categorised be and at the moment rank tide rans down.

    PRODUKSI DAN KANDUNGAN KARBON SERTA LAJU DEKOMPOSISI SERASAH Xylocarpus sp di PERAIRAN SUNGAI MESJID DUMAI, RIAU

    The research was conducted on May-June 2012 in the Sungai Mesjid, Dumai, Riau Province. The purpose of this research was to determine the amount of litter production, the content of carbon and the decomposition rate of litter in Xylocarpus sp . The method in this research is a survey that conducted by observation and sampling of litter on the ground, then followed by analised litter in the laboratory of Marine Ecology Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. Based on research that has been done, it is known that the largest amount of litter production found in the largest amount of Xylocarpus sp stands with the production value of 480 gbk/m2/60 day or 8 gbk/m2/day, while the biggest value of carbon’s content present in the largest amount of litter production with 50,2 % percentage contribution of carbon value per day at station I. For the higgest decomposition rate of litter found in the smallest amount of Xylocarpus sp stands at station III with 1,51 % percentage of decomposition rate per day.

    NITRATE AND PHOSPHATE CONCENTRATION AND DIATOM ABUNDANCE IN TIN MINING IN SUNGAI LAKAM KARIMUN RIAU ARCIPELAGO PROVINCE

    The research was conducted in April 2013 in the former Tin Mining waters Riau archipelago Province. This study aims to determine the concentration of nitrate and phosphate and diatom abundance, to determine the relationship between the concentration of Nitrate, Phosphate and diatom abundance, the feasibility of former tin mining waters in Karimun Island as a floating net cage culture in terms of water quality parameters, especially nitrate and phosphate. Sampels were taken from 5 stations and each station was divided into 3 sampling point. The result of the study found 10 species of centric diatoms and 5 species pinnate diatoms. The highest abundance of diatom was found in Station 5 near the floating cages locations and residential areas (633,33 Ind/L), and the lowest was at Station 2 (316,67 Ind/L). The highest individual abundance was shown by Rhizosolenia delicatula, and then followed by Thalassiothrix longissima and Lauderia borealis, respectively. It was indicated that no dominan species was found in the waters. However, based on the results the area was categorized as area with middle level of contamination.

    The Relationship of Mangrove’s Density and Macrozoobenthos Abundance In Estuary Area Merusi River Indragiri Hilir Regency Riau Province

    The research was conducted in March 2013 in estuary area of Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research was aimed to find out comparison density of mangrove and macrozoobenthos abundance. Measurement vegetation of mangrove used quadrant transect 10 x 10 meters, meanwhile abundance and density of macrozoobenthos used quadrant transect 5 x 5 meters. The study was found 7 species of mangroves, included R. apiculata, R. mucronata, B. gymnorrhiza, B. parviflora, X. granatum, N. Fruticans and A. aureum in average i.e. 1272 Ind/ha. Species of macrozoobenthos was founded are N. balteta, N. dubia, C. quadrata, C. capucinu, P. imperforate, P. expansa, T. telescopium, U. coarctata, C. Aambonesis and periopthalmus sp in average i.e. 0,51 ind/m2. Based on the results by linear regression, the relationship mangrove’s density and abundance macrozoobenthos was at middle level with percentage 30%.

    ANALYSIS OF BUTTERFLY FISH (CHAETODONTIDAE) ABUNDANCE IN THE CORAL REEF ECOSYSTEM IN BERALAS PASIR ISLAND BINTAN REGENCY

    Observation was conducted to determine the abundance of Butterfly fish (Chaetodontidae) and live coral cover, and to see the comparison of the aboundance of the butterlfy fish among three different station in Beralas Pasir Island regency Bintan in May 2013. Based on the results of the research was found that Chaetodontidae fish species consisted of two genera, three species namely Chaetodon octovactiatus, Chaetodon decussatus, and Chelmon rostratus. Chaetodontidae abundance was found 0.088 ind/m2 with categorized slightly and the percentage of live coral cover of 47.56% which is considered moderate.

    The research was held on April, 2013 in Panipahan waters area of Rokan Hilir District, Riau province. It aims to find out the source of organic pollutant input into Panipahan waters area, to know the organic content on water and sediment, beside that also to find out the relation of organic content among water andsediment. Based on result of the research proved that the source of organic pollutant input comes from anthropogenic and harbor activities, mangrove forest area and manufacture shipbuilding activity. The result of Linear Regression test shows the relation of organic content among water and sediment are strong.

    The research was conducted on November 2012 in Rokan Hilir and Bengkalis Waters of Province Riau. The aim of this research was to describe the sedimentary enviroment in Rokan Hilir and Bengkalis waters. Sediment sample obtained from 4 station in Rokan Hilir water and 4 stasion in Bengkalis was using mechanical analysis. Q-mode cluster analysis was carried out based on mean diameter, sorting, skewnes and kurtosis. Based on result of Cluster Analysis, the research area were dividied into the following three area. 1) area located around fishing area, Liong estuary and Malacca strait, characterized by very fine grained sediment, influenced by unstable bottom currents and very weak tidal currents, 2) the area located around settlement areas, characterized by very fine grained sediment, influenced by unstable bottom currents but unsignificant and weak tidal current, and 3) area located around Malacca strait, fishing area and Rokan estuary, characterized by very fine grained sediment, influenced by ustable bottom currents and very weak tidal currents.

    The Comparison of Diversity and Abundance Diatom (Bacillariophyta) In Bagan Siapiapi and Bengkalis Waters Area Riau Province

    The research was conducted in November 2012 in Bagan Siapiapi dan Bengkalis waters area, Riau Province. The research was aimed to find out the comparison of diversity and abundance diatom and shown the waters fecundity. Each location was divided into four stations, included Malacca Strait, fishing ground, estuary and settlement area. The study found 16 species of Centrales diatoms and 4 species of Pennales diatoms. The highest species total abundance among two location was at station 3, i.e. 50.522,752 sel/L, and the lowest was at station 7, i.e. 11.006,7424 sel/L. The highest individual abundance was shown by R. alata forma gracillma and Thallasiosira gravida. Bagan Siapiapi waters area was at the normal condition, it was indicated by no species was dominating the waters, so do Bengkalis. However, based on the results the Bagan Siapiapi’s was at middle level of contamination and Bengkalis’s was at low level of contamination.

    ANALISIS KANDUNGAN LOGAM Pb DAN Cu PADA AIR DAN SEDIMEN DI PERAIRAN MANTANG KABUPATEN BINTAN PROVINSI KEPULAUAN RIAU ANALYSIS CONCENTRATION OF HEAVY METAL Pb AND Cu IN SEAWATER AND SEDIMENT OF MANTANG COASTAL WATERS RIAU ARCHIPELAGO PROVINCE

    This research was conducted on March 2013. Samples of seawater and sediment were collected from Mantang coastal waters, Riau Archipelago and analyzed for their Pb and Cu concentrations in UPT Pengujian Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Laboratory Riau Province Pekanbaru using AAS shimadzu AA-7000. The results showed that Pb concentrations in seawater and sediment were higher in station closed to Station 2 (0,707 mg/L and 13,137 μg/g) respectively than that in other stations. Cu concentrations in seawater were higher in station 1 (0,05 mg/L) and concentrations in sediment were higher in station 2 (10,140 μg/g). Concentrations of Pb and Cu in water of Mantang coastal waters were still higher than Kepmen LH No 51, 2004 values. Concentrations of Pb and Cu in sediment of Mantang coastal waters were still lower than IADC/CEDA (1997) values. which can be concluded that Mantang coastal waters does not have bad impact to organisms living in the surrounding area.

    THE EFFECT OF UBP LIRIK CRUDE OIL ON THE GROWTH, DEFOLIATION AND BIOMASS OF (Rhizophora apiculata) MANGROVE IN PANGKALAN SESAI DUMAI

    This recearch was done in October 2012-January 2013 to determine the growth ability of mangrove Rhizophora apiculata seedling contaminated by crude oil of UBP Lirik. Different concentrations of crude oil were added after the seedlings were expossed to acclimatization period of 2 months, and measurements were performed 5 times with 10 days intervals. Water quality measurements carried out 3 times on day 0, day 20, day 50 of observations. Crude oil doses were P0 (0.00 ml/cm2); P1 (0.05 ml/cm2), P2 (0.1 ml/cm2); P3 (0.5 ml/cm2) and P4 (1.0 ml/cm2). Additions of UBP Lirik crude oil with different concentrations to the mangrove seedlings R. apiculata provide significant influence on the number of leaves and plant height. Crude oil has no significant effect on stems diameter, defoliation, biomass and roots of mangrove seedlings. Based on the measurement of physical and chemical parameters in the study area such as temperature, salinity, pH and soil acidity it was suggested that those parameters were sufficient to support the growth of mangrove seedlings R. apiculata.

    Studi Kandungan Logam Pb, Cu dan Zn pada Lapisan Sedimen yang Berbeda di Perairan Pantai Telaga Tujuh Kabupaten Karimun Kepulauan Riau

    The research was conducted in August 2012, by taking samples from Telaga Tujuh Coastal Waters District of Karimun in the province of Kepulauan Riau. This research aimed to obtain information about the distribution of the metal content of Pb, Cu and Zn in the sediments both horizontally and vertically, as well as to determine the level of metal pollution in Telaga Tujuh Coastal Waters due to the abandoned tin mining and anthropogenic activity around the area. The average content of heavy metals Pb, Cu, and Zn in the coastal waters of Telaga Tujuh are 60.76 μg/g, 38.24 μg/g and 108.41 μg/g, respectively. Average metal content of Pb, Cu and Zn are different betwean the upper layer (0-1 cm), middle layer (10-11 cm) and lower layer (20-21 cm). The highest metal content were found in the upper layer (0-1 cm), Pb 65.78 μg/g, Cu 49.12 μg/g and Zn 128.69 μg/g, which are related to the current input from anthropogenic activitis. Upper part of the sediment (0-1 cm) are the fastest layer influenced by heavy metal deposition than others coming from anthropogenic activitis around the Telaga Tujuh Coastal Waters.

    STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS MAKROZOOBENTHOS DI PERAIRAN DESA DOMPAS KECAMATAN BUKIT BATU KABUPATEN BENGKALIS

    This study aims to determine the community structure makrozoobenthos covering types, abundance, diversity, dominance and uniformity makrozoobenthos and to know the content of organic matter in the sediment with an abundance makrozoobenthos Dompas waters. While the benefits of this research are expected to provide basic information in conserving aquatic resources, ecosystems as input for various parties, especially fisheries development planners in business management of Dompas water Bengkalis. The research was conducted in August 2011. Sampling and measurement of water quality parameters conducted in the waters of the village of Bukit Batu subdistrict Dompas Bengkalis, the sample analysis conducted at the Laboratory of Integrated Marine Science Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau Pekanbaru. The research used a survey method. Data collected by primary data from measurement of the quality of the environment and field sampling. The stations of observation counted three stations, the first which lies in the area that have mangrove vegetation, second which does not have vegetation of mangroves and the last at the estuary beach of Dompas. A total of makrozoobentos found at the study site are six species and four class. The six species are Crenatula mytiloides, Nereis virens, Portunus latipes, Cardisona camifex, Littorina nebulosan and Rhinoclavis sinensis. Research describing the abundance and diversity of aquatic makrozoobenthos in Bukit Batu Village District Dompas Bengkalis vary at each research station. To obtain a comprehensive picture of the diversity makrozobenthos Dompas waters around this village, it is necessary to study more closely the expanding area of research that includes round Bengkalis Strait.

    HUBUNGAN KANDUNGAN MINYAK DENGAN KELIMPAHAN DIATOM DI SEKITAR PERAIRAN DESA LALANG KABUPATEN SIAK PROVINSI RIAU

    This research was conducted in August 2011, located in the waters of the Lalang village, District of Siak, Riau Province. This research was aimed to determine the oil consentration, the abundance of diatoms and the relationships between oil consentration with abundance of diatoms (Bacillariophyta) in the waters around the Lalang Village. The method used in this study is a survey method. Based on the results, the highest average value of oil consentration was obtained at Station III (0.615 ppm). It’s different from Station I which has a lowest average rating of oil consentration (0.269 ppm). Six diatoms spesies were recorded in namely in the waters of the Lalang Village, ie. Chaetoceros cinctum, Coscinodiscus lineatus, Nitzschia seriata, Planktoniella sol, Rhizosolenia alata, and Skeletonema costatum. Where Nitzschia seriata species has an average number of the highest abundance (3,000 ind / l) compared to other species and the most commonly encountered at each station. Average abundance of diatom species in each station (8240 ind / l). The relationship between oil consentrasion and abudance diatoms shown that a negative relationship as expressed in formulation y = -5992 x + 4954 with a coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.827 and the correlation coefficient (r) = 0.909. So that, the increasing of oil consentration will be declining the diatoms abudance in the water Lalang Village.

    ANALISIS BAKTERI Clostridium perfringens PERAIRAN SELAT BARU KECAMATAN BANTAN KABUPATEN BENGKALIS PROVINSI RIAU

    Analysis of Clostridium perfringens in Selat Baru held in May 2012 and analyzes were conducted at the Marine Microbiology Laboratory of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Riau University. The results showed that the amount of bacteria ranged from 3,0 x 103 to 1,1 x 107 cfu/ml. Given that the trend of the number of bacterial colonies on the surface of the waters of the most abundant in station 3. Rod-shaped cells or chains and gram-positive bacteria with negative test motility, positive catalase, positive H2S test and positive methyl red test. While the results of water parameters were 31oC temperature, depth 2.7 m, pH 6, salinity 25.66 ‰, brightness of 69.33 cm and flow velocity 0.11 m/sec.

    ANALISIS BAKTERI Clostridium perfringens PADA IKAN TENGGIRI (Cybium commersoni) DI PERAIRAN BENGKALIS PROVINSI RIAU

    Bengkalis is one of the largest fish producer in the province of Riau with the amount of fishery production in 2009 from the arrest of 9443.80 tonnes. One of the marine fishery commodities needs to be known and widely used potential is mackerel. This study aimed to analyze the bacteria carried C. perfringens in fish mackerel in the waters Bengkalis. The benefits of research that can inform the presence of bacteria C. perfringens on mackerel fish (C. commersoni) and provide information on the whereabouts of the fishery and public health Bengkalis. The method used in this study is a survey method, where data obtained by direct observation in the field and analysis of bacterial C. perfringens in Marine Microbiology Laboratory. The results showed that the number of bacteria found in the digestive tract mackerel (C. commersonni) with a total of 1.0 x 107 cfu / ml, the number of bacteria in the gills contained 5.1 x 106 cfu / ml, while the number of bacteria found on meat 1.6 x 105 cfu / ml. Based on the results of this study concluded the number of bacteria C. perfringens in the digestive mackerel resulted in a suitable environment to accelerate the growth of the bacteria C. perfringens.

    STRUKTUR VEGETASI MANGROVE DI PANTAI JANGKANG KABUPATEN BENGKALIS PROVINSI RIAU

    This research was conducted in April 2012 in Jangkang coastal Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Three station were decided on the Jangkang coastal by belt transect method. There were 10 species of mangrove found in the study area, namely: Bruguiera gymnorhyza, Bruguiera parviflora, Nypa fruticans, Rhyzophora apiculata, Rhyzophora mucronata, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum, Thespesia populnea, Excoecaria agallocha, At station I is the most dominant mangrove species are the type of E. agallocha and the least kind S. alba and S. caseolaris, at station II of the most dominant is the type E.agallocha and the least the kind B.parviflora and S.alba. at station III the most in dominant types E.agallocha was the kind B.gymnorhyza is the least of. The most frequently present spesies was Rhizophora apiculata. There was no domination shown by particular species (C ~ 0). It can be concluded that mangrove forest in the station II has been disturbed, however on the whole, the mangrove was in relatively good condition
