Abstract:
Kabau (Archidendron microcarpum) is wild plant growing only in primary and
secondary forests. Kabau belongs to the family Fabaceae or legumes. Kabau seeds are
green, yellow or brown and usually used as fresh vegetables like jengkol and petai.
Molecular information regarding kabau is not yet available. DNA isolation is an
important step to obtain good quality of DNA template for further analysis. This study
aimed to isolate total DNA of kabau plant sample K6 using Genomic DNA plant mini
kit (Genaid) method. This research consisted of sampling, total DNA isolation, and
electrophoresis. Result showed that the DNA band was more than 10,000 bp in size
with a single band, thick, bright, and without smear.
