Item Diabetes Melitus(2013-04-18) Winarto; Hakim, LuqmanDiabetes mellitus is one of a metabolism disorder with characteristic of the hyperglycemia caused by abnormal insulin secretion resistance, insulin metabolism, or both. Diabetes mellitus with hyperglycemia cause increasing oxidative stress and distrubance antioxidant defence. Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil containing ^-carotene, p-cryptoxanthin and a-tocopherol can reduce oxidative stress. This study aimed to determine the effect of glibenclamide combination P. conoideus Lam. oil on uric acid serum. Wistar rats were divided into four groups; normal group, DM group, diabetic group given glibenclamide and diabetic groups were given glihenclamide combination Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil The results showed significant differences (p <0.05) on uric acid serum. Based on this study; it can be concluded that administration of glibenclamide combination Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil can decrease uric acid average in diabetic rats.
