Abstract
ABSTRACT
Diabetes mellitus is one of a metabolism disorder with characteristic of the hyperglycemia caused by abnormal insulin secretion resistance, insulin metabolism, or both. Diabetes mellitus complications in kidney is related with hyperglycemia cause increasing oxidative stress and distrubance antioxidant defence. Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil containing β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin and α-tocopherol can reduce oxidative stress. This study aimed to determine the effect of glibenclamide combination P. conoideus Lam. oil on histochemical changes corpusculum malphigi diabetes. Wistar rats were divided into four groups; normal group, DM group, diabetic group given glibenclamide and diabetic groups were given glibenclamide combination Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil. The results showed significant differences (p <0.05) on histological glomerulosclerosis, capillary dilatation, mesangial matrix expansion and mesangiolysis. Based on this study; it can be concluded that administration of glibenclamide combination Pandanus conoideus Lam. oil can prevent the progression of Corpusculum malphigi damage in diabetic rats
