Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health education to increase knowledge of junior high school students about drug. This research method uses quasi-experimental design with the implementation of health education. The research was conducted at SMP N 9 Dumai on 155 respondents, at 77 the experimental group and 78 control group. Measuring instrument used was a questionnaire with 15 questions about the drug, which was developed by researchers. The analysis is used univariate and bivariate analyzes with the Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney. The results showed a significant increase in the knowledge of the drug in the experimental group after health education p value < α (0.000 <0.05). Based on the results of this study are expected for schools to apply methods to improve knowledge about the drug in junior high school students and student motivation to keep improving knowledge about the importance of knowing the drug correctly.
