Abstract
Rotan getah (Calamus angustifolius Griff.) is a species of plant from the Arecaceae family
which belongs to the large-sized rattan group with a height of up to 40 m. This plant is
commonly used, especially by the people of Kampar Regency, as a culinary namely
'pangkek'. This study aimed to isolate rotan getah DNA using Genomic Mini Kit Plant
(Geneaid). Research methods consisted of total DNA isolation and electrophoresis. Total
DNA isolation was carried out using young leaves from one individual RG3 following
the Geneaid protocol. The visualisation results of the total DNA bands showed a thin band
and without smears with a length of more than 10,000 bp.
