Abstract

Bamboo belongs to the family Poaceae (grasses) also called giant grass. One area that still lacks information about bamboo is Kuantan Singingi Regency, precisely in Pangean District which also has a fairly high diversity of bamboo which is often found river areas, residential areas, plantations and forests. The composition and diversity of plant species in an area depends on several environmental factors. This study aims to determine the composition and diversity of bamboo in Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This research was conducted by survey method. This research was conducted in March-June 2021 in five villages, namely Pulau Tengah Village, Tanah Bekali, Pasarbaru, Sukaping and Koto. The results of the study found eight species of bamboo with two varieties that have been identified. The eight species of bamboo found include; Bambusa vulgaris; Bambusa vulgaris var. striata and Bambusa vulgaris var. vulgaris, Bambusa multiplex, Bambusa glaucophylla, Gigantochloa atter, Ggantochloa pruriens, Gigantochloa achmadi, Gigantochloa kuring and Thyrsostachys siamensis. The most dominant bamboo species is Bambusa vulgaris.
