Abstract:
Castor plants (Ricinus communi L.) produce non-edible castor oil that can be used as
material raw in a various industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and bio fuel. Information
related to genetic resources of castor plant is little known. Molecular approaches can be used to
analyze variation of germplasm. Molecular-based analysis is strongly influenced by quantity and
purity of DNA sample as template. Therefore, this research aimed to isolate genomic DNA of
castor bean using Genomic DNA Mini Kit (Plant) GeneAid. The result showed that extraction
DNA total produced DNA bands . Five individuals show thin fragmen and six individuals show
thick fragment.
