Abstract
Purpose of this study is to invent a alternative material for octopus trap, which subsituted snail shell. The experimental fishing was conducted to find out the best material for octopus trap. Two treatments was used in this experiment, which was ceramic and coconut shell. While, the snail sheel as a control. The ceramic, coconut shell and snail shell trap was set randomly at main line. Those were setting 3-4 miles from the coastal line, with 4-5 meters water depth. The result show that the fishing cacthes of snail shell trap was highest than ceramic and coconut snail trap, which was 12 induviduals for snail shell trap, 6 individuals for ceramic traps and 2 individuals for coconut shell traps. Efectivity of snail shell trap was influenced due to its highest rupture resistance in the waters than ceramic than coconut shell and had proporsional demension to octopus size as main fishing target.
