Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of classroom action research is to improve critical thinking
skills and and learning outcomes of students with the application of cooperative
learning model probing prompting type in Bangkinang Barat SMP Negeri VIIIC
class at Academic Year 2011/2012. This research was conducted in the second
semester in May 2012. Subjects were grade students of SMP Negeri 1
Bangkinang Barat VIIIC by the number of 27 students consisting of 15 male
students and 12 female students. The parameters measured were the critical
thinking skills of students consisting of 3 indicators and student learning
outcomes consisting of absorption and mastery learning individual students,
student activities and teacher activities. The average critical thinking skills of
students in the first cycle is 66.98% (average) increase in the second cycle with an
average critical thinking skills of students is 74.40% (good). Students capability in
the first cycle is 72,90% (average) increase in the second cycle to be 79.70%
(good). Student mastery test scores daily visits from students in the first cycle is
92.00% (complete) increased in the second cycle to 100% (complete). From these
results it can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning model
probing prompting type can improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes
biology grade SMP Negeri 1 Bangkinang Barat VIIIC class at Academic Year
2011/2012
