Abstract

Hard injuries on bone can be lead to fractures and children are relatively most common to get fracture. Fracture is the loss of continuity of bone, cartilage, epiphyseal cartilage, either total or partial. This research purposed to know characteristics of fractures in children those treated. This research was a descriptive retrospective study which was done at Arifin Achmad General Hospital of Pekanbaru. Based on the results of a study of 214 cases of fractures in children, the incidence of fracture was most commonly found in adolecents (60.3%), the percentage of boys (75.2%) was higher than girls. The most common location of fracture was the lower limb that is Os femur (21.5%). The most common classification of fracture was complete fracture (18.5%). Most of fractures in children were treated by surgical (45.8%) and the length of hospitalization were around 1-7 days (53,7%) but it was not specific for the fracture case. The condition of patient to go home showed the signs of improvement as much as 52.3%.
