dc.description.abstractThe kinetics of sorption of Congo red dye stuff onto phyrophyllite under the influence of initial concentration has been studied. The adsorption capacity of phyrophyllite was found to decrease with increase in dye initial concentration. The adsorption mechanism was found to follow pseudofirst- order model with rate constants in the range of 0.039 – 0.079 min-1. Both the intra-particle diffusion and Boyd kinetic models indicated that intra-particle diffusion was the main rate determining step in Congo red adsorption processen_US
