| dc.description.abstract | History of East Timor which begins at the decolonization process by which the Portuguese colonial turmoil and conflict in the region. East Timor broke away from Indonesia after the holding of the referendum. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that helped create the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the role of Australia in the State of Timor-Leste, the impact of the fall of the new order and the emergence of the reform of the State of Timor-Leste, the transition process and the solution of problems in East Timor post polls, the process of handling cases of human rights violations in East Timor, as well as the relationship between Indonesia - Timor Leste after the establishment of the State of Timor-Leste. The research method used is the method of Empirical and Historical Documentary. The goal is to reconstruct, analyze, evaluate, and explain the evidence to get the facts and achieve results that can be accounted for.The results showed that there are three important countries, namely the United States, Australia, and Portugal as well as UN agencies as arbitration in the State of Timor-Leste. It also can not be separated from the political and economic changes in Indonesia led by Habibie who then issued a second option, liberating East Timor. The trip to East Timor's independence marked by human rights violations committed by the military, eventually international parties also demanded Indonesia to implement the human rights tribunal to prosecute those involved. The issue of human rights is also an obstacle in the relationship between Indonesia and Timor-Leste's future, there are many parties who do not feel satisfied with what is done by the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Timor-Leste to address such matters. | en_US |
