Abstract
ABSTRACT
Complications in pregnancy is a major cause of the increase in maternal mortality
rate. One of the efforts to decrease maternal mortality rate is by doing Antenatal care
(ANC). As for the factors that influence of pregnant mother to doing ANC are knowledge
and attitude of pregnant mother about ANC. Goal of this research is to assess the
effectiveness of counseling to increase knowledge and attitudes about the importance of
ANC in pregnant woman in working area of Muara Fajar Public Health Center. The
method of this research is pre-experimental with pre test-post test one group study desaign.
The sample of this research is 43 people using total sampling technique. The research
variable is analyzed using wilcoxon test with α=0,05. The result of this research showed
respondents have good knowledge (9,3%) and positive attitude (65,1%) before counseling
and there are an increasing number of respondent who has good knowledge (20,9%) and
positive attitude (81,4%) after counseling. The test of analyzed show that there is not
effectiveness of counseling to improve pregnant mother’s knowledge about the importance
of ANC with p value 0,101 and there is not effectiveness of counseling to improve pregnant
mother’s attitude where is p value 0,135. In conclusion, counseling is not effective to
improving knowledge and attitude of pregnant woman despite there are an increasing
knowledge and attitude after counseling.
