Abstract
The study is titled "The effect of group counseling on increasing students' independence
youngest SMAN 2 Mine of the school year 2012/2013". The purpose of this study is: 1) To
reveal the independence of the youngest students of SMA Negeri 2 Mine academic year
2012/2013 before being given the guidance of the group. 2) To reveal the independence
of the youngest SMA Negeri 2 Mine academic year 2012/2013 after a given group
counseling. 3) To determine the effect of the child's independence before and after the
youngest student organized group counseling in SMA Negeri 2 Mine academic year
2012/2013. 4) To determine the contribution of group counseling on the youngest child's
independence SMA Negeri 2 Mine academic year 2012/2013. Hypothesis: there are
significant group counseling to increase student independence youngest SMAN 2 Mine.
Methods of research used experimental method pattern One group: One group pre-test
and post-test design. To distinguish the independence of students before and after the
youngest child was given use of guidance services group test calculations "t" is obtained

and Ha accepted means there is a difference between the independence of the youngest
students before and after the group counseling services. Then from the calculation of the
determinant coefficient r2 = 0.54. Thus it can be seen the influence of group counseling
services to increase independence youngest child is 54%. Based on the results of research
conducted, it can be concluded after a given group counseling services to increase
independence of the youngest students
