dc.description.abstractThe research was conducted in December 2012 in the village of Kote District Singkep Lingga regency of Riau Islands province. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the kelong fishing gear in Kote village is included in eco-friendly fishing gear or not and also to determine the feasibility of the buissness. The method used was a survey by direct observation in the field and doing interviews and discussions with fishermen. Based on the FAO (1995) criteria of environmentally friendly fishing gear it can be concluded the kelong fishing gear was eco-friendly. Feasibility analysis of the calculation results showed that kelong fishing (light fishing with lift net) effort to the benefit of fishermen and deserves to be continued because the value of BCR (Benefit Cost Ratio) of 1.3 is obtained. FRR (Financial Rate of Return) is 23.46%. and PPC (Payback Period of Capital) is 4 years and 2 months.en_US
