Abstract

Differences in Quality of Life between Over Nutrition Status and Normal Nutrition Status of Student SMAN 1 Pekanbaru By Maulia Nurul Annisa BACKGROUND: Quality of life is an individual's perception of the conditions of life in the context of the culture and value system. This is connected to a person's life goals, expectations, standards and concerns they have. Overweight can affect quality of life, mainly in adolescents. The prevalence of overweight in adolescents of age 16-18 years in Riau province is 1%. One of the age group at risk for the occurrence of overweight is the school age group. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine differences in quality of life between over nutrition status and normal nutrition status of students of SMAN 1 Pekanbaru. METHODS: This study used cross sectional analytic method at 84 respondents. To see the difference in quality of life and nutrition status over a normal nutrition status with test Non-parametric Mann-whitney. To obtain more data on the nutritional status and normal nutrition status anthropometric is measured (height and weight). Data were collected through a questionnaire quality of life using Version 4.0-inventory PedsQLTM quality of life of children aged 8-18 years. RESULTS: From the analysis of the data found that the proportion of overweight status was 26.2%. Average total quality of life associated with better nutrition status and normal nutrition status (p value = 0.032), the physical quality of life associated with better nutrition status and normal nutrition status (p value = 0.005), emotional quality of life was not associated with overweight status and normal nutrition status (p value = 0.459), quality of social life associated with better nutrition status and normal nutrition status (p value = 0.028), quality of life not related to school nutrition status and normal nutrition status (p value = 0.362). CONCLUSION: The proportion of obesity in students of SMAN 1 Pekanbaru in this study population amounted to 26.2%. Students with over nutrition status, had bad a total quality of life, emotion and schools. On female students more likely to have emotional and quality of life of poor schools, while the male students more likely to have bad a total quality of life, emotion and schools.
