dc.description.abstractThe background of this research is the issue of emotional intelligence children in Kindergarten Education 21 Kulim Pekanbaru like: kids get bored, do not focus on learning to follow the teacher, there are kids who always looks sad, there are children who easily get angry, there are children who easily get cry, some children can not wait for their turn, and some children prefer to be alone. Therefore efforts should be made which can improve a child's emotional intelligence is by listening to music. The purpose of this study is to describe the emotional intelligence of children before and after a given treatment listening to music, and to determine the effect of music listening on emotional intelligence of children aged 4-5 years in kindergarten Education 21 Kulim Pekanbaru. The method used in this study is a model of experiment method with pre test-post test one group. The sample used in this study were 20 children comprising 10 boys and 10 girls. The data collection techniques by observation. Based on the results of research in general emotional intelligence K1 Lettuce before treatment is given in the poor category. This is evident from the number of children categorized as either none (0%), category fairly (30%) have 6 children, and the category of less (70%), there were 14 children. Meanwhile, after being given treatment by listening to music, emotional intelligence in general has improved enough to be a category. There are 3 children who were categorized either (15%), 18 children with enough categories (85%), and no more children who were categorized less (0%). By using the formulation t test, obtained t test of 10.94 with dk 38, tTable 5% = 2.021. Because t (10.94) is greater than t table (2.021) then there is the influence of Ha acceptable means to listen to music on the emotional intelligence of children aged 4-5 years in kindergarten Education 21 Kulim Pekanbaru.en_US
