Abstract

There was applied the Class Action Research (CAR) in order to increase student’s problem solving skills, science process skills and Biology study result of class XII IA.2 in SMAN 1 BINTAN by applying RANGKA contextual teaching and learning based character education. The research was conducted in March and June 2012. Subject on the research was 33 students. The research was the Class Action Research (CAR) collaboration with biology’s teacher. The parameters in take focus on problem solving skills, science process skills and Biology study result. The students' problem solving skills in the first cycle was 80.16 (satisfactory). The second cycle increased to 92.28 (very satisfactory). In the process skills of students in the first cycle was 83.20 (good). The second cycle increased to 91.28 (excellent). In the students' Biology study result in the first cycle was 80.45 (enough). The second cycle increased to 84.30 (enough). The research it could be concluded that the application of RANGKA contextual teaching and learning based character education can improve problem solving skills, science process skills and Biology study result of class XII IA.2 in SMAN 1 BINTAN.
