Abstract
This experimental research is intended to explain the extent of the influence of cooperative learning
type CIRC and conventional method toward students’ reading ability – whether they have higher or
lower entry behavior. Otherwise, to identify the interaction between cooperative learning type CIRC
and entry behavior toward students’ ability.This experimental research was conducted at English Study
Program of FKIP UNRI. The subjects of this experimental research were the first semester students in
academic year 2007-2008. To determine the influence of cooperative learning type CIRC and conventional
method toward students’ reading ability, pre-test and post-test were given. The result of data analysis
shows that there is a difference between the average score of pre-test and post-test students’ reading
ability in experimental group and control group. In geometry, it says that cooperative learning type
CIRC gives influence in ordinal number. The students’ reading ability treated by cooperative learning
type CIRC is higher than students’ ability treated by Conventional method. In other words, there is an
interaction between cooperative learning type CIRC in entry behavior toward students’ reading ability.
Cooperative learning type CIRC can improve students’ reading ability to conventional method.
Cooperative learning type CIRC – in teaching learning process- students can work together, discuss,
share information, mutual understanding, as well as give mutual sport to get the objectives.
