Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship betwen knowledge, physical condition and families support with normal postpartum maternal motivation in performing self-care. The method in this research was descriptive correlation. The research was conducted at Camar I Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru with the samples as many as 56 people. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Instrument used was a questionnaire with 12 questions for motivation, 20 questions for knowledge, 13 questions for physical condition and 17 questions for families support. Univariate test results obtained majority age > 30 was 31 people (55.4%), junior/ senior high school education was 49 people (87.5%), housewife was 43 people (76.8%), good motivation was 29 people (51.8%), poor knowledge was 32 people (57.1%), poor physical condition was 35 people (62,5%) and good families support was 32 people (57.1%). The conclusion of this research was all of factors related to motivation (p value <α), they are knowledge (p value=0.006), physical condition (p value=0.011). and families support (p value=0.001). For researchers the results of this study can enhance the understanding of self-care on maternal postpartum. For the development of nursing research can be useful for the improvement of nursing care on maternal postpartum normal and evidance based on further research and for the agency as improving quality of care in the normal postpartum mothers.
