Abstract
Pyrazoline is a five ring heterocyclic compound containing two adjacent nitrogen atoms
and one endocylic double bond. Pyrazoline 5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-(naphthalene-2-yl)-
1-tosyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (PZN-2NFT-4TSH) had synthesized through the
cyclization of the chalcone 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(naphthalen-2-yl)-2-propen-1-one
with p-toluenesulfonyl hydrazine. The method used is stirring at 70-80oC assisted with
hydrochloric acid as catalyst to produce white crystals with yield 47,33%. The purity of
the compound was determined using TLC, melting point, and HPLC. The structure of
synthesized compound was confirmed by ultraviolet (UV) and fourier transform infrared
(FTIR) spectroscopy data analysis.
