dc.description.abstract | Chalcone is one of secondary metabolites included into the class of flavonoids that are known to have biological activities. Beside that chalcone can be used as an intermediate for synthesizing heterocyclic compounds, such as flavones, flavanols, flavanones, and others that also have biological activities. In this research, the chalcone derivative of 2’- hydroxyasetophenone was synthesized, it was (E)-3-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-(2-hydroxy phenyl)prop-2-en-1-on, by stirrer method using a base catalyst (KOH) at a room temperature. The purity of this compound has been tested using TLC, melting point test, and analytical HPLC. Then, the chalcone was characterized using UV-Vis, IR spectrophotometer, and 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS spectroscopy. The toxicity test was done by Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. Accordings to the primary test, this analogue chalcone compound is potential as anticancer which was proven by LC50 values <200 μg/mL | en_US |
