Abstract
The purpose of this research is to explain about different strategies undertaken by each member of the IMT-GT countries in developing the halal industry. Halal industry is significant for the IMT-GT subregion because of its Muslim population and the increasing trend of the world halal product showed an enormous potential business. It was estimated that global trade value of halal products and services reached USD2,3 trillion. By looking at the market reaction to the halal products, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand within the IMT-GT cooperation to developing the halal industry. This research applies qualitative research method. Data in this research is taken from books, journals, internet, media, and other references. This research also uses competitive advantage theory. The result from this research shows that the development of halal industry in each country show that there are inequality. Although IMT-GT cooperation has been active, but the development of halal industry in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand rely on strategy that was chosen by government of each country.
