Abstract
The purpose of this research was to identify the opportunity and accordingly
effective strategy for further development of fruits agribusiness in Karimun Regency.
Kinds of fruits which can be potentially developed as agribusiness primary
commodities were durians, mangoes, bananas, rambutans, and pineapples. The
development of these fruits in the Regency was expected to become the main
suppliers for areas of Batam Island, Tajung Pinang, and Singapore. Development
strategy were through 1) improving quality and amount produce and also completion
of agribusiness subsystems development by preparing production medium, farming
efficiency, access market, and empowering supporter institute, 2) training and
constructing farmer in order to acceleration of technology transformation and
optimizing government officer performance and perpetrator of agriculture, 3) improving
farmer bargaining position by market guarantee and information, and 4) providing
infrastructure to increase productivity and earnings of powered farmer, and optimizing
economic institute or co-operation.
