Abstract
Wound healing is a complex process. This process consists of several phases, one of which is the proliferative phase. Reepithelization is a process in proliferative phase. Wound care has been commonly done by using NaCl 0.9%, but it is assumed that aloe vera could be used in wound healing. The contents of aloe vera which expected to increase the thickness of reepithelization are acemannan, enzymes, amino acids, vitamin A and vitamin E. This study aimed to determine the effects of Aloe vera gel (Aloe chinensis Baker) to the thickness of reepithelization. Mice were randomly divided into four different treatment groups into normal group, group administered with aloe vera gel twice daily, group administered with aloe vera gel 3 times daily and 0.9% NaCl groups. On the fifth day, skin tissue was taken to assess the level of epidermis thickness. The results of this study showed a significant differences (p <0.05) in epidermis thickness description. This study concluded that administration of Aloe vera gel can increase the thickness of reeepithelization in mice wounds
