Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cognitive learning outcomes of
students in the class that uses a simple alternative media with a class that uses the
standard media in class VIII MTsN Bukit Raya Pekanbaru academic year 2012/2013
second semester of the light material. The research was conducted by the research
design Intact Group Comparison with two groups: the design experiment class and
control class. Data collection instrument is shaped objective achievement test.
Inferential analysis of the results based on the criteria absorption, mastery learning
and mastery learning indicators obtained physics student learning outcomes in the
classroom using a simple alternative media has no significant difference to the
learning outcomes of students who use standard media. Then use a simple alternative
media is effective for use on the subject of Light.
