Abstract
The using of chitosan is a one way that can be used to control leaf spot disease
in pre-nursery of palm oil caused by Cercospora sp. The research was conducted in
Plant Disease Laboratory and in Green House Agriculture Faculty of Riau University.
The aim of the research was to know chitosan concentrated that could be used to
inhibiting the growth of Cercospora sp. by in vitro and in vivo in pre-nursery of palm
oil. The treatment that were used were: 0 mg chitosan/ml water,
10 mg chitosan/ml water, 15 mg chitosan/ml water, 20 mg chitosan/ml water,
25 mg chitosan/ml water, and 30 mg chitosan/ml water. The result of the research
showed that the best concentration for chitosan to inhibiting the growth of
Cercospora sp. by in vitro was 30 mg chitosan/ml water. However, the treatment of
10 mg chitosan/ml water could decrease intensity of leaf spot disease attack which
caused by 42% of Cercospora sp. in pre-nursery of palm oil (in vivo).
