Abstract
This study aims to determine the variability and patterns of correlate some character growth and production in determining the selection criteria BATAN sorghum collection. Research was conducted in the field of Faculty Agriculture, University of Riau from August 2011 to January 2012. The study was conducted using a randomized block design which consists of 15 treatments and 3 replications. Treatment using 4 varieties namely Kawali, Mandau, Durra and UPCA-S1 and 11 strains of the B-100, B-95, B-92, B-90, B-83, B-76, B-75, B-72, B-69, ZH-30 and CTY 33. Tthe research showed
sorghum genotypes studied had considerable variability properties that have the potential to be developed as a source of raw material plant breeding. Characters observed in this study showed variability is controlled and regulated by the environment to the value of the genetic variance component was not different from zero (not significant). The characters are real and strongly correlated with the results that can be used as an alternative selection criteria namely grain weight / panicle, 1000 grain weight and plant height.
