Abstract

Hospitalized patients have a potential risk for nosocomial infections. Airbone fungi are the one of the main causes of fungal infections. The aim this investigation was to monitor fungal contaminant in wards of Class III at Arifin Ahmad General Hospital Pekanbaru to solved the problem sanitation hospital environmental. Air samples were collected from high risk wards, using settle plate methods for ten minutes which 15 minutes before cleaned and 15 minutes after cleaned. The fungi were taken on Potato Dextrosa Agar (PDA). Fungal colonies were enumerated and identified. The total fungal colony which found is 20-92 cfu/plate/10 min. The kind of fungal was founded are 15 species with 8 genera. The fungal were Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terreus, Aspergillus sp., Penicillium spp., Rhizopus stolonifer, Curvularia spp., Fusarium spp., Nigrospora sp., Chrysonilia sp., Yeast and Mycelia sterilia.
