Abstract
This research describes about the strategy of Malaysian’s propaganda through
animation film. The aim of this Malaysian strategy is to claim Indonesian culture,
both on Rasa Sayange song and Wayang Kulit. While the animation film which
used as propaganda media by Malaysia is animation film of Upin and Ipin. The
conflict between Malaysia and Indonesia has be beginning since 1963. The
incident was known as “konfrontasi” or the Indonesian people called it with term
“Ganyang Malaysia”. Nowadays, conflict between both countries was caused by
the dispute in culture sector. To dispute the culture product between Malaysia and
Indonesia, in the first time was happened in 2007, when Malaysia used Rasa
Sayange song to its national tourism interest. And then, it creep to the other
culture products, such as Wayang Kulit, Angklung, Reog, and etc. To expedite its
effort to claim culture products of Indonesia, Malaysia has be applying the
propaganda through animation film, Upin and Ipin
