Abstract
The purpose of the research is to improve learning outcomes mathematics through the use of models of cooperative learning approaches Think Pair Square Elementary at students of SD Negeri 023 Bagan Jawa Kecamatan Bangko Kabupaten Rokan Hilir on the subject matter was fractions semester academic year 2011/2012. This study was conducted in SDN 023. The subjects were students class of IV SD Negeri 023. The number of students is 24, consisted of 12 male and 12 female students. Forms of research is a class act. Model used in the study is cooperative learning think pair square in teaching the concept of fractions. This model of study was conducted in two approaches cycles consisting of the first cycle and second cycle each of the three meetings and one-time tests. The results showed to use of cooperative learning think pair square can improve student learning outcomes, model of it is shown in the number apptoaches of students who achieve a score of 65 on the basis of KKM for 9 students (37.5%), increased in the first cycle to 12 students (50 %) and increased again in the second cycle to 20 students (83.33%). Implementation of cooperative learning approach to the structural think pair square can improve the learning outcomes the class of IV in SDN 023 Bagan Jawa on the subject matter fractions in the second semester of academic year 2011/2012.
