Abstract
ClassroomAction Research has been done to improve activities and results of student learning in
Higher Plant Systematic Teaching through the use of plants life materials as a medium for direct objects
in Biology Program, Faculty of Educational Studies University of Riau odd semester 2010-2011. The
research was conducted in February until July 2010 on 48 students. The study consisted of two cycles of
learning that includes 4 meetings. The parameters were observed consisting of learning activities and
results of student learning. Student learning activities cover three main aspects which consists of 10
components of the observation, while the results of student learning is observed posttest values, exam
subjects (formative test) and value Semester Final Examination (summative test). The results showed
that the use of plants as a medium for direct object at the lecture Systematic of Higher Plants can
increase the activity and results of student learning. The mean of the learning activities of students on the
first cycle is 3.24 in the second cycle increased to 3.56 and at the end of the semester become 3.40 (good
category). The mean results of student learning in the first cycle was 70.6 in the second cycle increased
to 72.6 and at a Semester Final Exam become 76.6
