Abstract
Phytoremediation is cost-effective and environmentally technology that use plants
to clean up the environment. One of the plant that has potency as phytoremediator is
(Limnocharis flava (L.) Buch) or also known as Genjer. The aim of this study was
to determine the ability of genjer as phytoremediator of Cd (II), Cr (VI) and Pb (II)
based on contact time (exposure period) variations (0, 3, 6 and 12) days. The
concentration of Cd (II) and Pb (II) were analyzed by Atomic Absorption of
Spectrophotometry (AAS) and Cr (VI) was analyzed using UV-Vis (UV Visible
Spectrophotometry). The results showed that maximum absorption efficiency for
Cd (II), Cr (VI) and Pb (II) were 83,70%; 43,98% and 90,31%, respectively (day 6).
BCF (Bioconcentration Factor) result showed that Cd (II), Cr (VI) and Pb (II) value
were > 1 (one). It is showed that genjer can be categorized as hyperaccumulator plant.
