| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study is to determine the effecs of eutectic mixture of local anesthetic (EMLA) on pain reduction in preschool children (3-6 years) in venous blood sampling procedure. The design of the research is quasi-experimental to with after only non-equivalent control group design. The research was conducted Pediatric word Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru, involving 30 respondents. Pain was measured by using FLACC. Results showed that average pain of EMLA group is 0.67 with maximum value =1 and the minimum value=0, whereas in the group not given EMLA gained an average of 6.20 with maximum value=7 and minimum value=5. Mann whitney tests shows p value 0.000 means < α (0,05) showed significant difference in pain levels between children treated with EMLA and children who are not given. The study suggest that health workers should apply EMLA to reduce the pain level during procedures for preschoolers. | en_US |
