Abstract
Student learning outcomes in mathematics learning is influenced by the
learning process that have been implemented. Based on the observations made by
the researcher during the process of learning mathematics class VII1 SMP Negeri
3 Pasir Penyu, known that the learning process is dominated by the teacher. When
the teacher presents the object, most students simply record what the teacher said,
only a few students who often respond to the object that have been provided by
math teachers. The effort from math teacher SMP Negeri 3 Pasir Penyu class VII1
is about effort to improve output from mathematics learning in SMP Negeri 3
Pasir Penyu, such as by forming study groups for students to learn and work
together. But the study group was formed by the teacher is a group based students
seat plan without looking the academic’s ability. so to improve the learning
process would have given a type cooperative model learning Numbered Heads
Together (NHT), which provides the opportunity for students to exchange ideas
and to consider ideas and consideration of the most accurate answer with motivate
students to improve their cooperative spirit.This research is about measure class
research that aims to improve student achievement. Researcher applied
cooperative learning Numbered Heads Together (NHT) in class 3 SMP VII1 Pasir
Penyu, academic year 2012/2013. Research procedures which have done in a
class-action is planning, action, observation and reflection. Research procedures
were conducted in a class-action planning, action, observation and reflection. The
success of the action is marked by increasing student learning and achievement.
Increase the learning process can be seen from the results of observations of
reflection and improvement in student achievement scores marked with individual
student progress and achieve a minimum performance criterion (MMC). Data
analysis teacher and student activities showed activity of teacher and student’s
achievement. This is indicated by the reflection of teachers learning process that
impact on the performance of teachers and students in the classroom. In the first
cycle, students who achieve a minimum criteria performance was 23.3% and 50%
at the second cycle of 30 students. From the results of this study concluded that
the Cooperative Learning Numbered Heads Together (NHT) could improve
student achievement in the classroom VII1 SMP N 3 Pasir Penyu
