Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of dose of compost palm male flower to the growth of oil palm seedlings. Results of the content analysis of male flowers of oil palm compost is N 2.01%, 0.541% P, 0.96% K, 0.36% Mg with a C / N Ratio 16.6. The research was conducted at the Experimental Station Unit Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Jl. Bina Widya Kelurahan Baru. Kec.Tampan, Pekanbaru. The research was carried out for 5 months starting from August to November 2012. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications non-factorial. The treatment is K0 (Without giving compost male flowers), K1 (130 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil), K2 (140 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil), K3 (150 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil) , K4 (160 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil), K5 (170 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil), K6 (180 g compost male flowers / 10 kg soil). The parameters measured were plant height increment (cm), increase the amount of oil palm seedling leaves (pieces), added oil palm seedlings stump diameter (cm), oil palm seedling root volume (ml), oil palm seedlings dry weight (g) quality index seeds (QIS) . Based on the results of the study increasing doses of compost palm male flower given to oil palm seedlings significant effect on plant height increment, increment stump diameter, root volume parameters, and plant dry weight did not significantly affect the increase of leaf. From the results of this study provide the best effect at a dose of 180 g male flowers compost / soil 10 kg.
