Abstract:
ISO 17025 accredited Testing Laboratory is a Laboratory that meets the standards
for laboratory management and technical management. The accreditation of testing
laboratories in Indonesia is carried out by the National Accreditation Institute (KAN)
with reference to ISO 17025: 2015. The mapping of Examination Laboratories in
Indonesia aims to look at the opportunities of higher university testing laboratories to
improve their quality so that they are equal and able to compete with government
testing laboratories and private laboratory. This can be obtained by accrediting
research laboratories on campus so that the results of research conducted by
lecturers and students can be improved and research costs become cheaper because
there is no need to send any more to accredited laboratories outside campus. From
KAN data, there are 1096 testing laboratories in Indonesia that are ISO 17025
accredited consisting of 721 government laboratories (66%), 348 private laboratories
(32%) and 27 university laboratories (2%). Location of the testing laboratory
deployments were 583 (53%) in Java, 230 (21%) in Kalimantan, 124 (11%), Sulawesi,
Bali, NTT, NTB, Maluku and Papua 133 (12%). The testing laboratories in Riau were
26 laboratories (2%) consisting of 12 government laboratories and 14 private
laboratories and no accredited university testing laboratories. The provision of ISO
17025 accredited university testing laboratories is highly needed generally in
Sumatra and Riau especially so that the results of tests carried out within the
framework of research by lecturers and students can be improved and research
culture on campus can be further improved to produce quality research results so able
to work with government and private parties and be beneficial to science and society.
