Abstract

Fish Bilih a native fish of Singkarak Lake, one of the world‘s species, important protected because it is endemic and has important economic value._Study of population characteristics and Bilih fish spawning areas on Singkarak Lake has done a series of studies in January and December 2010._The purpose of this study is to reveal the characteristics of spawning fish populations and and their ecosystem. The research proves that the size of mature female fish gonads Bilih range in size of 70-109 mm with a weight of 6.37 to 8.68 grams and males 70-89 mm and weighs 4.46 to 6.60 grams. Female fish to spawn more dominant on the size of 70-79 mm and males 60-69 mm. Percentage of female fish to spawn each research station ranged from 68.37 - 75.65% and males 73.39 - 78.31%._Bilih spawning fish populations by conducting migration from lakes to rivers, among others, into the river Sumpur,Paninggahan and Baing every day starting at 16:00 until 23:00 am with the amount of thousands of tail.
