Abstract:
This research is motivated by the lack of reading comprehension skills of fifth grade elementary school
students 182 Pekanbaru with the number of students who are skilled is 14 students (39%) while 22
students (61%) are still experiencing difficulties in reading comprehension. The problems of this study
are Is the application of cooperative learning model Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition
(CIRC) can improve reading comprehension skills folklore Elementary School fifth grade students 182
Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research is to improve the reading comprehension skills folklore
Elementary School fifth grade students 182 Pekanbaru with implementing cooperative learning model
Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). Daily Deuteronomy results first cycle
values obtained for the class average 73.85 (both categories) and the second cycle increased to an
average grade of 80.34 (very good category). Results 1 UH reading comprehension skills of students is
25 students with classical completeness 69%. Results UH 2 is 31 students with classical completeness
86%. Results of data analysis, teacher activity increased from the first cycle of meetings 1 78.12%
(both categories) and increased in the second meeting to be 81.25% (category very we ll) the next
meeting of the second cycle 1 percentage activity for 90.62% of teachers (category very good) and an
increase in cycle II meeting widened 93.75% (category very well). Student activity meeting the first
cycle 1 percentage 68.75% (category enough) and increased in the second cycle of 78.12% 2 meetings
(both categories). Cycle II 1 percentage meeting student activity by 84.37% (category very well) and
increasing at a meeting of 2 to 87.5% (very good category). Thus, the hypothesis which says if
implemented cooperative learning model Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC)
then, can improve reading comprehension skills Folklore Elementary School Student Class V 182
