Abstract:
In this study, a monthly rainfall fractal analysis of Pekanbaru City was conducted from the year
of 2016 to 2020. This analysis uses the Hurst Exponent method (H) and obtained the Fractal
Dimension value (D) from Pekanbaru City rainfall data. The relationship of the Hurst Exponent
with the Fractal Dimension is D = 2 – H. The value of the Hurst Exponent was derived from the
logR/S slope regression value with the log(n). The results of this research can be used for the
classification of monthly precipitation time runtun data: random, anti - persistence, persistence.
Fractal Dimension Value is highly dependent on the value of Hurst Exponent. The results of this
study based on the value of Hurst Exponent shows that the pattern of Pekanbaru City rainfall
data is persistence and based on fractal dimension value, Pekanbaru City rainfall pattern from
year to year is increasingly irregular. This is because the Fractal value is farther away from the
value of 1
