Item Kemampuan Menulis Surat Dinas Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 36pekanbaru(2013-07-11) Aprilia Handayani, EkaThe purpose of this research to find out the ability of the second year student in writing formal letter at SMP Negeri 36 Pekanbaru. This research used descriptive method, the method used to explain the data obtained in the study as it is. This research used observation and direct assessment techniques in writing Formal Letter. The results of this study are: (1) formal letter head, (2) the date of the letter, (3) the number letters, (4) the letters attachments, (5) the goal of the letter, (6) the address of the recipient, (7) the letter greeting, (8) introductory paragraph, (9) the contents of paragraph (10) the closing paragraph, (11) cover greetings, (12) the signature and name of the sender, and (13) copies of formal letter. The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of the student of second year of SMP Negeri 36 Pekanbaru to write official letter, the aspects of a letter, dated letters, number of the letters, letter attachments, the letter regard, the addressed of the letter, the opening greeting, the contents of opening paragraphs, concluding paragraph, closing greeting, signature and name of the sender. Subject of the study was 164 students and the 100 of them was the study sample. The results of this study indicate that (1) The ability to write Formal Letter head relatively high, (2) ability to write Formal letter dated relatively high, (3) Ability to write Formal letters numbers belonging to higher categories, (4) ability to write Formal letter attachments relatively high, (5) Ability to write Formal letter regarding the relatively medium, (6) Ability to write Formal letter addressed classified as medium, (7) ability to write Formal letters greeting relatively high, (8) ability to write an opening paragraph relatively high, (9) The ability to write paragraphs Formal letter was quite high, (10) The ability to write a cover Formal letter were classified as high, (11) ability to write a cover of Formal letter greeting considered to highercategories, and (12) Capabilities write the name and sender's signature were higher, (13) the ability to write a copies of formal letter is low.
