    Peranan Adat Pantang Larang Dalam Penerapan Norma-Norma Yang Berlaku Di Masyarakat Suku Melayu Desa Bukit Batu Kecamatan Bukit Batu Kabupaten Bengkalis

    This research was entitled “The Role of Pantang Larang Custom toward the application of the occurred norms in Malay ethnic society at Bukit Batu Quarter, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis”. The purpose of this research was to find out the role of Pantang Larang Custom in the society of Bukit Batu toward the application of the norms that is occurred in society. Hypothesis: Pantang Larang Custom has the important role in organizing people’s living in the application of the norms that is occurred in Malay Ethnic society at Bukit Batu Quarter, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis. The technique of choosing the sample oriented to the statement of Suharsimi Arikunto that said for the large total of the population or more than 100, the sample could be between 10-15%. The method of the research was Descriptive Qualitative. The technique of collecting data was by using interview and questionnaire. Data analysis was done with descriptive qualitative. From the percentage of respondents’ answers, the answer that said having important role than others was at level 63,6%. So, the hypothesis was accepted which means Pantang Larang custom has an important role toward the application of the occurred norms at Malay ethnic society in Bukit Batu Quarter, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis. Then, from the result of interview, the interviewee said that Pantang Larang custom has an important role toward the application of the occurred norms in the society. It can be concluded that the role of Pantang Larang Custom toward the application of the occurred norms in Malay ethnic society at Bukit Batu Quarter, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis was 63,6%. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that Pantang Larang Custom has the role toward application of the occurred norms in Malay ethnic society.
