Abstract

This research was conducted from April until June 2012 at Soil and Water Quality Management Laboratory Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of Riau University. Aim of this research was to investigate the effect of CaCO3 lime to the pond bottom soil characteristics and fertilize for pond bottom soil and the water quality. The method used was experimental method and randomized block design with 1 factor of CaCO3, with 5 lime doses level of CaCO3 from 0 g/m2, 6,67 g/m2, 56,00 g/m2, 112,00 g/m2, and 168,00 g/m2 respectively, and 2 group ponds that is new pond (with age pond from 0-4 years old) and old pond (with age pond from 5-10 years old). The result indicated that different doses of lime CaCO3 effect on soil quality such as pH, organic carbon, and CEC, while for water quality such as DO and hardness. The groups effect on soil quality such as pH and water quality such as DO and nitrat. The best result was achieved by a dose of lime CaCO3 on groups of old pond and new pond is 168,00 g/m2.
