Abstract
This research was conducted from September-November 2012, in the Hatchery
Fishes Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The aim of
research was to find out the effect of the natural food on the growth and survival rate of
tawes larvae (Puntius javanicus Blkr). The research method was experimental design.
Treatments applied Tubifex sp, Artemia sp and kutu air (Moina sp and Daphnia sp).
Result indicated that the kind of natural food affected growth and survival rate of
tawes larvae. The Tubifex sp diet provided the best result of growth rate 0.5475 g, daily
growth rate 13,8 g, 32.3 mm in length and survival rate of 66,7%. The water quality
parameters during the research were temperature 24,5-29oC, pH 6-7, DO 2,35-7,49 ppm,
ammonia 0,33-2,61 mg/l.
