dc.description.abstractThe welfare of local communities after an effort to community empowerment in the tourism area of the Siak Palace, Siak Regency Preliminary observations revealed that local people who work in the informal sector in the tourism sector, such as food and beverage vendors, as well as souvenirs craftsmen dominated by small businesses and medium-scale. And it takes an effort to empower people to improve their welfare. The purposes of this research are : 1) To reveal the profile of the local community around the Siak Palace area that involved in the tourism development, 2) To determine differences of the social welfare level after being given empowerment. And according to the research, it was found that the empowerment effort were able to provide an increase of social welfare significantly. It was also found the relationship between the empowering the community with the level of social welfare is equal to 0.368.en_US
