Abstract
Research about the application of cooperative learning model Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) has been done to improve student achievement on the subject of reduction and oxidation reaction in class X SMAN 2 Pekanbaru. Form of research is experimental research with pretest-posttest design. Time data collection between February 14th – March 7th, 2013. The sample consisted of two classes, namely class X.3 as the experimental class and the class X.5 as a class controls randomly selected after test of normality and homogeneity test. Experimental class is treated by applying a model of cooperative Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE), while the control class was treated to a lecture. Data analysis technique used the t-test. Based on the final results of data process by using t-test formula obtained ttest>ttable is 2,46>1,67 means that the application of cooperative learning model Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) can improve student achievement on the subject reduction and oxidation reaction in class X SMAN 2 Pekanbaru. Increased student achievement on classroom experiments supported the normalized gain scores (N-gain) was 0,75 that included high category.
